LICENSED ASBESTOS WORK
- Loose fill lagging insulation
- Sprayed insulation/coating
- Asbestos thermal insulation
- Asbestos insulating board (AIB)
- Loose dust & small pieces of debris (gross contamination)
All Licenced works will be subject to a 14-day notification to the HSE prior to any works commencing (ASB5 Notification)
NOTIFIABLE NON-LICENSED ASBESTOS WORK
- Textured decorative coatings – using gels/steam for large-scale removal
- Paper, felt and cardboard e.g. electrical equipment insulation, ropes and yarns or cloth or gaskets and washers – depending on condition – if poor condition or degraded during work NNLW, if kept virtually intact non-licensed
All Notifiable Non-Licenced Works will be subject to a notification to the HSE prior to any works commencing (NNLW1 Notification)
NON-LICENSED ASBESTOS WORK
- Textured decorative coatings – only when carefully cutting around backing sheets to achieve removal intact
- Strings kept virtually intact e.g. removed whole
- Resin-based materials e.g. friction products brake lining
- Conveyor belts/drive belts
- Asbestos cement products
- Thermoplastic/vinyl floor tiles, bitumen adhesives/roof felt/shingles, asbestos paper damp proof coatings, mastics, asbestos paper backed PVC floors, resurfaced PVC panels & compounds
Encapsulation of Asbestos Containing
- Materials
- AIB panels that are in good condition
- Minor repair of Pipe insulation. (NNLW)
Encapsulation works can fall into any of the above categories and may be subject to the same notifications (ASB5 or NNLW1) dependent on the type of material and its condition

Contract Manager Dean Telford also has over 20 years’ experience in the industry and has also worked across many sectors including domestic, commercial, industrial and health services.
